Archive removes work from active use and keeps its history and links. It preserves IDs, workflow columns, comments, Activity, attachments, Artifacts, dependencies, and milestone or strategy links.

Archive a project

An organization owner or admin can open Project Settings, select Archive project, and confirm the action. The action is separate from permanent deletion. The project moves from Active to Archived on the Projects page. Normal navigation, dashboard cards, task-create and move destinations, and default search exclude it. Open the Archived view or use an authorized saved link to read its board, list, tasks, and history. An Archived project marker identifies the read-only state. The project cannot accept new tasks or edits to its work. New automated work is suspended; existing automation configuration and execution history remain available.

Restore a project

Open the archived project’s settings and select Restore project. You must be an organization owner or admin. Atoll checks the project limit and active task limit before it restores any work. If capacity is insufficient, the project stays archived and no task archive flags change. Project archive and restore leave each task’s own archive flag and workflow status unchanged. For example, task A is individually archived and task B is active. Project archive removes both from active use. Project restore returns B in its original column; A stays archived. Active counts and progress use the same active task set. Archived projects show historical counts and progress separately from their zero active counts. In an archived project’s overview, milestone progress uses retained task history, including tasks archived before the project. The milestone section labels these counts Historical: x/y complete. Authorized initiative links and counts remain available, including links made only through archived tasks. Ordinary active dashboards keep their active scope. After project restore, milestone counts use active tasks again; individually archived tasks remain excluded.

Archive or restore a task

Archive a task to remove it from active work without marking it Done or Cancelled. In an active project, open Archived Tasks to find archived tasks and use Restore task to clear a task’s individual archive flag. An exact task link also retains access under the usual permissions. Restore an archived parent project before you restore or edit its tasks. An individually archived task in an active project keeps its existing permitted edits. An edit does not restore it or restart automated work.

Dependencies

An archived blocker satisfies its dependency, including when the archive is inherited from its project. The dependency edge and selected release column remain. Restoring the blocker checks the same release point and can block the dependent task again. For commands and exact filters, see CLI work commands and API fields.
